Terms of Use
These terms govern your use of the Keyboard Mentor app and these web pages. Keyboard Mentor is operated by PlugAI ("we", "us"). By downloading or using the app, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms for you and manage any purchase.
1. Licence to use the app
We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use Keyboard Mentor on devices you own or control, for your own learning and non-commercial use. If you got the app from the App Store, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies; if you got it from Google Play, Google Play's terms also apply. Where those terms conflict with these about the store, the store's terms win.
The app, its lessons, exercises, arrangements, artwork, sounds, the coach and the Keyboard Mentor and PlugAI names belong to us or our licensors. Songs in the app are public-domain melodies in our own arrangements, or used under licence. Open-source and third-party licences are listed in the app.
2. Your account
The app starts with an anonymous account. You may link it to Sign in with Apple, Google, or an email address and password so your purchases follow you. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in secure and for activity under your account. You can delete your account at any time (see the delete account page).
3. Keyboard Mentor Pro subscriptions
Keyboard Mentor is free to download with a set of free lessons. Keyboard Mentor Pro unlocks every lesson and song, the coach and other Pro features. Current prices in US dollars are:
- Monthly: $3.99 per month.
- Yearly: $35.99 per year, with a 3-day free trial for people who have not subscribed in the app before.
- First-year offer: where we offer it, $19.99 for your first year, then $35.99 per year. It is for people who have not subscribed in the app before.
The store shows the price in your local currency before you confirm, and that is the price you pay. Prices and offers may change; a change never affects a period you have already paid for, and the store tells existing subscribers before a price rise takes effect.
- Payment. Payment is charged to your Apple ID or Google Play account when you confirm the purchase, or, with a free trial, when the trial ends.
- Auto-renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically for the same period at the then-current price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within the 24 hours before the period ends.
- Free trial. If you do not cancel at least 24 hours before a free trial ends, it converts to a paid yearly subscription. The app reminds you before the trial ends if you allow notifications. Any unused part of a free trial ends when you buy a subscription.
- Cancelling. Cancel or manage your subscription in your App Store account settings (Settings → your name → Subscriptions) or in Google Play (Play Store → Profile → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions). Cancelling stops the next renewal; Pro stays active until the end of the period you paid for. Deleting the app or your account does not cancel a subscription.
- Refunds. Purchases are processed by Apple or Google, and refunds are handled by them under their own policies. Request an App Store refund at reportaproblem.apple.com, or a Google Play refund from your Google Play order history. We cannot issue store refunds ourselves. Nothing here limits refund rights you have under consumer law.
- Restoring. Use Restore purchases on the Pro screen to bring back a subscription bought with the same store account. A subscription bought on one store does not carry over to the other.
4. Acceptable use
Please use Keyboard Mentor for learning and enjoying music. You agree not to:
- copy, resell, rent or redistribute the app, its lessons, sounds or content, or share Pro access beyond what your app store allows;
- reverse-engineer, decompile or tamper with the app, its purchases or our servers, except where the law allows it;
- bypass purchase checks, fair-use limits or security measures;
- use the coach to send unlawful, abusive or harmful content, to try to make it break its rules, or through automated tools or scripts;
- use the service in a way that harms other users, us or our providers.
We may suspend or end access for anyone who breaks these rules.
5. The AI coach
- The coach is a Pro feature that uses an AI model to explain your results and answer questions about piano practice and the app.
- The coach explains; it does not score. Scores, stars, timing and lesson progress are calculated by the app on your device using fixed rules. The coach is given those results and explains them; it cannot calculate or change them.
- AI replies can be wrong or incomplete. Use your own judgement, and follow a qualified teacher or doctor for anything about pain, injury or health.
- A fair-use limit applies so the coach stays fast and available for everyone. If you reach it, the coach pauses until the next day while the rest of the app keeps working.
- What is sent to the coach and its AI provider is described in the Privacy Policy.
6. Practice and your instrument
Microphone and MIDI results depend on your device, instrument, connection and surroundings, and may sometimes be imperfect. Take breaks, and keep the volume at a comfortable level, especially with headphones.
7. Availability and changes
We work to keep Keyboard Mentor available, but we provide it "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind to the extent the law allows. We may update, change or remove features or content. Some features need an internet connection or a supported device.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, PlugAI is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits or goodwill, arising from your use of or inability to use the app. Our total liability for any claim relating to the app is limited to the amount you paid us for Keyboard Mentor in the 12 months before the claim, or USD 10 if you paid nothing. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or your statutory rights as a consumer.
9. Ending these terms
You can stop using the app at any time by deleting it and, if you wish, your account. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms or if we stop offering the app; if we stop offering a paid feature you have already paid for, you can ask the store for a refund under its policy.
10. Apple-specific terms
If you use the app on an Apple device: these terms are between you and PlugAI, not Apple. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app. If the app fails to meet an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price; Apple has no other warranty obligation. Apple is not responsible for any claims relating to the app, including product liability, legal compliance or intellectual property claims. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. The courts of India have jurisdiction over any dispute, without affecting any mandatory consumer protection rights you have where you live.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the app evolves. We will post the new version here with a new effective date. If you keep using the app after a change takes effect, the new terms apply.
